Pet Fire Safety is important. Learn more today about how to keep your dogs safe in case of fire.
For many pet owners, their fur babies are most precious to them. Every July 15, National Fire Pet Safety Day seeks to encourage pet owners to learn about pet fire safety. We want you to know what to do in case of a fire. Let's ensure that our friends, families and pet remain safe.​

When was National Pet Fire Safety Day Started?

​National Pet Fire Safety Day began in 2009 by the Kennel Club and ADT. The aim is to help pet owners learn how to protect their pets and homes from fire.

How to Encourage Pet Fire Safety?

  • Share this blog and other resources with friends and family that have pets.
  • Use #PetFireSafetyDay to post on social media and raise awareness.
  • Have fire drills and create an evacuation plan. Include your pets in the fire drills and make to practice fire drills. Be sure to list common hiding places for your pets. This is helpful for yourself to check in case of a fire, but also for firefighters to know.

Pet Fire Safety

Fires affect an estimated 500,000 pets yearly (American Kennel Club).
Pets cause over 1,000 house fires each year in the United States (National Day).
About 40,000 pets due in residential fires each year. Most deaths are due to smoke inhalation (American Veterinary Medical Association).
