Celebrate the bond with our pets! All about Pets! This month is all about pets, big, small, furry or otherwise! There are many health benefits of owning a pet. They can increase opportunities to exercise, get outside, and socialize. Regular walking or playing with pets can decrease blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels. Pets can help manage loneliness and depression by giving us companionship. Most households in the United States have at least one pet. Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets can increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness to their owners. In the spirit of national pet month, here’s some things we can do to pay it forward to all those wonderful pets with or without forever homes!
Sharing a home is sharing the love!Shelters and rescues would love to house every homeless animal, but unfortunately, that is just not possible due to a lack of space and resources. Animals that would otherwise be euthanized can be saved by those who are willing to take them into their homes, even if its temporary. Foster homes are also a great option for animals with special needs, nursing mothers and babies, and animals that need a quiet space to heal from injury, trauma, or illness. Fostering is an amazing and rewarding experience. You can change an animals life for the better by bringing them into your home and caring for them.
