Happy National Dog Week! 

Everyone at D'Tails Pet Boutique and Spa loves dogs of course, and we know you do too! This week is National Dog Week. It is an actual nationally recognized holiday that began in 1928 when World War 1 veteran Captain William Judy created it to celebrate and bring attention to the importance of dogs in our lives. When Captain Judy returned from the war with a Silver Star, he purchased Dog World Magazine, and the holiday he longed to establish became a reality. His goal was to increase awareness for the needs of dogs, and to bring to light the relationships we have with our trusted companions. 

In modern times, Dog Week continues and is celebrated across the nation with festivals, a huge dog walk, and other events hosted in local communities. Many shelter pets benefit also from the attention and awareness.

Recognized for their beauty, alertness and intelligence, the Bichon Frise is well known for their white, hypoallergenic coat, their adaptability and playful demeanor. Although they are good watch dogs, they are lovers who believe everyone is their friend. They get along well with children and other animals. ​Bichon Frises are 9.5 to 11.5 inches to the withers. Weight is between 12 to 18 lbs with a life expectancy of 14 to 15 years.
