Everyone at D'Tails Pet Boutique and Spa loves dogs of course, and we know you do too! This week is National Dog Week. It is an actual nationally recognized holiday that began in 1928 when World War 1 veteran Captain William Judy created it to celebrate and bring attention to the importance of dogs in our lives. When Captain Judy returned from the war with a Silver Star, he purchased Dog World Magazine, and the holiday he longed to establish became a reality. His goal was to increase awareness for the needs of dogs, and to bring to light the relationships we have with our trusted companions.
In modern times, Dog Week continues and is celebrated across the nation with festivals, a huge dog walk, and other events hosted in local communities. Many shelter pets benefit also from the attention and awareness.
We hope you will celebrate National Dog Week by making your pet a tasty treat, going for an extra long walk, and giving lots of love. You can also help local pets by volunteering at your local shelter or donating gently used pet items. This is a great week to bring attention to the needs and health of our beloved dogs. And of course, bring your dog in for some pampering from us!
From Lourdes, our caring staff, and of course Freda, we wish you a barktastic week!
