The D'tails Pet Story
Before D'tails Pet Boutique & Spa (D'tails Pet) came to be, Lourdes was living in Ohio. She had a very large Doberman Pinscher named Cleo whom she took to the local groomer. The amount of time it took to groom Cleo was very long. When Lourdes moved back to Florida, she decided to change her career. Her experience as a new pet owner and involvement with a pet rescue made her want to get into dog grooming.
After grooming school was complete, Lourdes worked for a few local shops. Although she loved her new career, she didn't like the way shops operated. In these shops, the pets arrived very early in the morning for grooming. Many spent the entire day in a care before they got a haircut. "It was a very stressful environment for the pets and groomer," said Lourdes. And that is how D'tails Pet came to be! It is her vision to have a stress-free grooming shop that considers the animals first.

WHY IS PET RESCUE AND ADOPTION IMPORTANT?
There are thousands of pets being euthanized in the USA and worldwide. There are many cases of neglect and violence towards pets. I think is important for all pet lovers to help these innocent animals. By rescuing and adopting we can help one pet at a time and from a world of pain. HOW DOES D'TAILS PET MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
We provide free grooming for those pets that are in rescue. The store facility is also used as a drop off site for donations. It is also used as a neutral place for potential adopters to meet pets and carry out adoptions.
HOW CAN OTHERS GET INVOLVED?
Here is what others can do:
- Like our Facebook page and share what we post about pet rescues and adoptions.
- Participate in our annual pet rescue benefit! More details to come soon.
- Donate money because many nonprofits are funded by adoption fees and tax payer dollars. Any extra can go a long way.
- Donate more than just money. Shelters and pet rescues need high-quality food and toys to keep the dogs healthy.
- Volunteering at the local pet rescues or shelters. There are so many pets in small spaces that it can get lonely. Shelters and pet rescues also need a lot of help to keep their facilities up and running. The time you give is truly worth it.
- Foster a dog or cat. Opening up your home is a great way to give a dog the tender love and care they need until the dog is adopted.
